About the Reading Chapter
My name is Mike Linehan and I am delighted to say that I have been accepted as an Affiliate of Cycling Without Age for the Reading area having lived in Earley for the past 31 years. As you have found your way to this page you will already have read about the amazing phenomenon that is Cycling Without Age, seen it on social media or TV or simply watched Fraser Johnston in the BBC 3 Amazing Humans report
I’ve only just started finding out what others are doing so am very much at entry level right now. I will be creating a Facebook page very soon and also be looking into fundraising for Readings 1st Trishaw.
Lots to do. I am keen to see how many local people are interested in getting involved so please email me (see contact info below) with your details and a bit of background as to why you’d like to become part of CWA. I will keep your details on a database and make sure you are the first to learn about progress with the Reading Chapter.
I’m looking forward to seeing this amazing programme grow and spread across the UK.
Chapter Status & Plans
At this time (September 2017) I am very keen to seek out potential sponsors, private or corporate and also introductions to key local businesses and government agencies with links to social care, the elderly, care homes, well-being, cycling etc.
Some of the Chapters with Trishaws already have forged relationships with Companies keen to support local communities and wellbeing initiatives through their Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. Those companies that have engaged in this way have seen improvements in staff morale and job satisfaction, the amazing reaction of those being taken out in the Trishaws and of course the enhanced company reputation in the local community.
That’s if for now. Do share the link to the Reading Chapter https://cyclingwithoutage.org.uk.uk/reading/ and contact me if you want to get involved.
