Sheffield
Our aim is to help everyone get out and about riding our comfy tri-bikes!
Sheffield is such a beautiful, friendly and green city. We’re a group of volunteers who love to cycle and chat, and believe passionately that time in nature can support a higher quality of life for older and less mobile people. We have been running in Sheffield since 2019, now with three tri-bikes Rhubarb, Pearl and Daisy. We are fully insured. We do not charge for our service.
Our rides are comfortable, fun and free
We use electric assisted tri-bikes which have room for two passengers. We usually visit one
of the local parks, favourites include:
- The Botanical Gardens
- Endcliffe Park
- Graves Park (including the llamas at the animal farm).
Cycling in parks provides opportunities to touch flowers, feel the wind in your hair, laugh at ducks, chat with other park visitors and find unexpected sculptures. We enjoy the seasons, from low winter sunshine and tree silhouettes to the summer scent of roses.
Each ride takes up to an hour. We carefully plan our route to the parks, keeping to back roads and cycle paths as far as possible.
Most of our rides are regular weekly slots with care homes and monthly slots with the Age UK Wellbeing Centres. We have two bases, one in Sharrow and one in Lowedges.
We welcome volunteers
We are always on the look out for more volunteers to join our band of about 25 pilots. We offer
flexible volunteering slots across different days and you don’t need to volunteer every
week. We run a regular training programme and pilot get togethers over the year.
