Lambeth

Welcome to Cycling Without Age Lambeth

Cycling Without Age Lambeth was born on 10th August 2020. Our aim is to build strong relationships with the elderly in Lambeth, sharing our love of cycling and bring people together to enjoy the simple pleasures of a bicycle ride and the company of others.

Our hope is that these rides will make happy memories for our volunteers and their passengers for years to come, helping them to feel more connected to the people and places where they live. Please support our Local chapter by Donating

How Cycling Without Age Lambeth Will Work

The concept could not be more simple. We provide specially built and equipped trishaw bicycles and work with volunteers to help elderly people break them free from social isolation, to feel the wind in their hair, see what’s going on, sing if they want to, do something different and improve poor mental health.

It could be a ride along the River Thames, trips to Londons landmarks, watching the world go by, or to enjoy the hustle and bustle of a ride in Lambeth.

Worldwide Inspiration

Local connections:

We will be building relationships with local care and nursing homes, Age UK Lambeth, Lambeth Dementia Action Alliance. we will run a program of rides across the week, to take their resident and members out for rides to explore London slowly and see what’s going on. We help local residents feel more involved in Lambeth’s life by taking them to local coffee mornings etc.

Volunteering with us:

Our volunteers will need to be DBS checked and trained to ride our Trishaws. The bike is power-assisted and our guiding principles, mean we cycle very slowly so it’s easy to chat with the passengers and develop friendships.

You won’t need to be a super fit cyclist to become a pilot, we cycle in our regular clothes and wear “The Right To Wind In Your Hair” t-shirts and Jackets!

In addition, we will need volunteers who help arrange events and spread the word. Please get in touch if you’d like to be involved and help tackle social isolation.

If you’d like to become a pilot once we have our first Trishaw, Please email lambeth@cyclingwithoutage.org.uk

Support Us:

As a Trishaws Cost £8,000, we rely totally on donations and grants for the purchase of Trishaws, garaging, on-going maintenance, marketing, etc.
