About the Skegness Chapter
We cannot wait to see this amazing programme grow and spread across the UK.
Chapter Status & Plans
I first saw Cycling Without Age on breakfast television and was so impressed by the message and the method that I decided it is just what we need here in Skegness. We have a high population of elderly people, a wonderfully flat landscape and of course the sea!
In October 2017 I became an affiliated member of this exciting scheme. I have recruited volunteer colleagues to help me to spread the word and we are trying to raise funds to buy two or three trishaws. We have so far raised enough funds to purchase our first trishaw and we are having a launch party on March 23rd at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Skegness. Funds have been raised by a Spinathon, coffee mornings, sponsorship and donations from the generous people of Skegness. We are looking to raise money for our second and third trishaws so that not only is an outing even more sociable, but also we can take the trishaws to some of the smaller outlying communities and involve them in the project too. I.e. give people in care homes which might be more rural the same chance to experience the wind through their hair.
Alongside raising the funding for our trishaws we are also seeking volunteer pilots, helpers, passengers as well as and businesses to spread awareness of our exciting project. Together we can make a difference and build new relationships within our community.
